From afar, Mount Coolum National Park dominates the skyline of the Sunshine Coast lowlands. Mount Coolum’s isolated volcanic dome looms 208 metres high and is most noticeable for its flat summit, a perfect lookout point.
Climb the steep, rough 800 metre trail from the car park to the summit of the mountain. At the summit, you can see ocean views from Mooloolaba to Noosa. See unparalleled views of beaches, sugarcane fields, national parks, and the Sunshine Coast Hinterland.
Along the way, you may come across diverse flora such as fern and more than 680 kinds of wildflowers. The park protects rare flora such as montane heath, coastal wallum, paperbark wetlands, and rainforest remnants.
The mountain is also home to unique animals such as the majestic Peregrine Falcon which can often be seen soaring over the mountain. Come across different reptiles, amphibians, mammals, and bird species.
